I can't help build a house. Is there some other way of helping? |
Do you want a simple, decent home? Is your present housing inadequate? What percentage of your monthly income do you currently spend on housing? You must currently live in the Greater Waterbury area and have lived here for at least one year. Ability to Pay
Willingness to Participate Families selected for Habitat for Humanity become "Partner Families." Habitat for Humanity works by using people's time and efforts to help them build a home. This requires volunteer work with other Habitat workers, which will count toward your total " sweat equity" contribution and must be completed before you become a homeowner. Partner families need to complete a minimum of 200 hours of sweat equity. Just as others will help you get a home, you may be asked to do the same for others. Your assistance may include helping with clearing a lot, construction, painting, providing food for volunteers, or working in the Habitat office. Once you move in, you will be responsible for the mintenance and repairs of your home. The Family Support Committee will provide financial counseling and household maintenance education to help you become a successful homeowner.
